TAPIR Seminar

CANCELLED DUE TO FLU -- TO BE RESCHEDULED
Camille Avestruz, KICP and Fermi Postdoctoral Fellow, Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, University of Chicago,
Speaker's Bio:
I am currently a joint KICP and Fermi Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago. From 2015 to 2017, I held a Provost's Postdoctoral Scholarship at the University of Chicago. In my research, I use simulations to understand observations of massive objects that trace the large scale structure in our universe. My interests include galaxy clusters and gravitational lensing as probes of large scale structure, hydrodynamical simulations and machine learning as tools for study, and various connections to multi-wavelength observations. In 2015, I defended my thesis on Cosmological Simulations of Galaxy Cluster Outskirts, which received an honorable mention for the Rodger Doxsey Dissertation Prize from the American Astronomical Society.
