An introduction to the de Rham-Witt complex
Christopher Davis, Mathematics Department, University of California, Irvine ,
We'll introduce the (absolute, p-typical) de Rham-Witt complex in a variety of different settings, including the case of characteristic p, which was first studied by Bloch, Deligne, and Illusie, and the mixed characteristic case, which was first studied by Hesselholt-Madsen and Langer-Zink. Our primary focus will be on the mixed characteristic case. Our main result will be an explicit description of the de Rham-Witt complex over W(k), where k is a perfect ring of odd characteristic p and where W(k) denotes the ring of p-typical Witt vectors.
