Topological insulators and the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect in relativistic quantum field theory
David Kaplan, University of Washington,

Many topological phenomena observed in condensed matter systems have their counterparts in relativistic quantum field theory and many have been used in lattice simulations since the early 1990s.  These include the Integer Quantum Hall Effect, the Spin Quantum Hall Effect, and Majorana edge states, along with a relativistic generalization of the TKKN calculation.  Missing from this list has been the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect, which I show can also be seen in a relativistic quantum field theory, as well as a Fractional Spin Quantum Hall Effect.
