Radio Emission from Stellar Systems
Harish Vedantham, Staff Scientist, Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy (ASTRON),

Radio emissions from the Sun and the planets are a unique probe of coronal plasma ejections and the ensuing effect on planetary atmospheres and magnetospheres. Extending similar studies to other stellar systems is now feasible thanks to the unprecedented sensitivity of new telescopes such as the low frequency array (LOFAR). In this talk, using recent LOFAR discoveries, I will illustrate the unique diagnostic capability of radio observations in constraining coronal structure of red dwarf stars and space weather conditions around their exoplanets.
