Stargazing Lecture

Have you ever wondered how the Sun makes all that light? Or why that light is yellowish-white, while other stars in the night sky can look blue or red? Does the thought of our Sun exploding keep you up at night? Find out the answers to your burning questions about our Sun and other stars—how they're born, how they produce light, how they differ from one another in color, size, brightness, and age, and what happens when they "die." Your view of the night sky will never be the same.

About the Series

Stargazing Lectures are free lectures at a public level followed by guided stargazing with telescopes (weather permitting). All events are held at the Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics at Caltech. No reservations are needed. Lectures are 30 minutes; stargazing lasts 90 minutes. Stay only as long as you want.

Stargazing is only possible with clear skies, but the lecture, slideshow, and Q&A takes place regardless of weather.
