Congruences between base change and non base change

In a work in progress with E. Urban, we show, under certain assumptions, integral period relations for quadratic base change adjoint $L$ functions. We use this to determine the exact congruence number between the quadratic base change of a classical cusp eigenform and non base change forms in the real and imaginary quadratic cases.
