Thermodynamics at the nano scale: The work cost of information processing

Abstract: I'll discuss an information-theoretic approach for extending the laws of thermodynamics to the nano scale, allowing us to derive a fundamental limit to the thermodynamic cost of information processing. Our approach sheds light on the role of the observer in thermodynamics.

The IQIM Seminar Committee is excited to announce that the IQIM seminar will have a new format this year. Seminars will take place at lunch on Fridays, with food served beginning at 12 noon.
