Distribution of the Hecke eigenvalues for GL(2)

In this talk I will present several statistical properties of the Hecke eigenvalues of cuspidal automorphic representations of GL(2) over number fields. In addition to outlining the main ideas for classical modular forms, I will also discuss some Sato-Tate type applications for Maass forms, based on joint work with Andrei Jorza.
