Ultraheavy resonances at the LHC
Bogdan Dobrescu, FNAL,

The production of an ultraheavy narrow particle may have a larger rate at the LHC than the QCD
background even when the final state includes only hadronic jets.
I will show that a particle coupled to two quarks may be discovered even when its mass is as large as 11.5 TeV.
If such a particle decays into a pair of vectorlike quarks, then it may show up as a 4-jet resonance.
A 4-jet event of this type was observed by the CMS experiment, with a mass of 8 TeV.
That event could have been produced by QCD with a probability smaller than 1/20000.
This is an example of how the LHC may soon start probing physics near the 10 TeV scale.
constraints.
