Detecting the Shadow of the Black Hole in M87

The Event Horizon Telescope recently imaged the super massive black hole in the center of the M87 galaxy. I will describe the experiment and the methods used to obtain this image. I will also discuss the implications of this measurement for the properties of the black hole and the theory of General Relativity.
