SESAME- A POSSIBLE SOURCE Of LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Eliezer Rabinovici, Hebrew University,

On a hill in Jordan overlooking the Jordan valley and in the hangers of Cern, Geneva a modern 2.5 Gev light source named SESAME is now being constructed.

I will give a very personal description on how Cypriots, Egyptians, Iranians, Israelis, Jordanians, Pakistanians, Palestinians and Turks have found themselves working side by side to create this unique project. The story will take us from the Cern Cafeteria through the streets of Jerusalem, the Sinai desert, the shores of the Dead Sea and Europian capitals to the SESAME site in Allan, Jordan. The scientific benefits to the region will be outlined.
