Old and new results on active scalars
Javier Gomez-Serrano,
Department of Mathematics,
Brown University,
An active scalar is a scalar which is advected by a velocity that depends on the scalar itself. Some examples are the 2D Euler or the surface quasigeostrophic (SQG) equation. In this talk I will explain old and new results in both the direction of global existence or finite time singularities for this family of equations.
