Speaker's Bio:
Eugene Polzik is a Professor of Physics and Director of the Center for Quantum Optics at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. He received his PhD in physics from St. Petersburg State University in 1980. His research interests are centered around quantum interface between light and atomic ensembles, quantum information processing, quantum memories, teleportation and quantum limited metrology and sensing. Recently he got interested in extending quantum interfaces to mechanical systems. Dr. Polzik is a Member of the Royal Danish Academy of Science, a Fellow of American Physical Society, a Fellow of Optical Society of America and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. He is presently at Caltech as a Moore Scholar.
