Dissipative Solitons: New Nonlinear Waves in Ultrafast Fiber Lasers
Frank Wise, professor of applied physics, Cornell University,
Speaker's Bio:
Frank Wise received a BS in Physics from Princeton in 1980, an MS in Electrical Engineering from California-Berkeley in 1982, and a PhD in Applied Physics from Cornell in 1988. Prof. Wise was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories before coming to Cornell. He joined the Applied Physics faculty at Cornell in 1988, and was named an NSF Presidential Young Investigator in 1989. He has received several awards for excellence and innovation in teaching. In 2007 he was appointed as director of the School of Applied and Engineering Physics.
