Beyond the Beamspot: Disappearing tracks, out-of-time jets, and other signatures of exotic long-lived particles

No clear signs of physics beyond the Standard Model have yet been found, despite a broad search program undertaken by the LHC experiments. However, the constraints of most of these searches do not apply to particles that have long lifetimes, such that their decay is measurably displaced from the interaction point of the proton-proton collision. I will present the results of several CMS searches for exotic particles with long lifetimes and discuss the prospects for finding such particles in Run 2 of the LHC.
