The Large Hadron Collider: Awakening at the next energy frontier
Anyes Taffard,
Associate Professor,
Physics & Astronomy,
UC Irvine,
After more than two years of consolidation and preparatory work by the accelerator and detector communities, the Large Hadron Collider is renewing its exploration at the new high-energy frontier of 13 TeV center-of-mass energy, searching for new particles and interactions beyond the Higgs boson. Highlights of recent results from the 8 TeV data and the present 13 TeV data collected by the ATLAS experiment will be discussed, as well as future prospects in confronting theories with data.
