High Energy Theory Seminar
Pole-skipping in holographic theories
David Vegh,
Queen Mary University of London,
In this talk I will introduce the recently discovered phenomenon of pole-skipping: a property of thermal holographic two-point functions that can be deduced from the near-horizon behavior of classical perturbations. I show that at certain (imaginary) Matsubara frequencies and appropriate complex values of the wavenumber the retarded Green's functions of generic operators are not uniquely defined. I will discuss various examples, including the case of energy density two-point functions in which pole-skipping is a manifestation of quantum chaos.
